4th of July

I can't believe it's almost the 4th of July - one of my favorite holidays! Unfortunately, I am scheduled to work this year, but since I work at a theme park, there will definitely be fireworks! In the past, my family has gone to a festive barbecue at my cousin's house, where there is a water slide and red, white, and blue everywhere! We used to go out in the street with sparklers at night time and take pictures of the streaks that they created. Oh the memories! Since I will be working this year, I will have to wear my not so attractive uniform. However, if I wasn't, these are some things that I would wear! I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July - let me know your plans in the comments!

Inspired Style: Eva Longoria

Recently I was looking at and came across this picture of Eva Longoria. I absolutely loved this outfit and immediately wanted to recreate it. This is the perfect summer 'business' outfit and is even appropriate to wear while running errands after work or even going out to dinner. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about rompers a few months ago, but I decided that when styled the right way, they are so cute! I love the polka dots paired with the white blazer and heels - so classy and sharp! Let me know what you think!

Father's Day

So I looked at the calendar a few days ago and realized that this Sunday is Father's Day! I couldn't believe it - usually I am very on top of holidays like these, but I think my finals schedule has taken over my life lately. I am going home tomorrow (Thursday) which means I'll be home to celebrate with my Dad on Sunday and I couldn't be more excited! If you're like me and still have to get a gift, don't panic - I have put together some ideas that might help or inspire another idea!

That being said, I think that the best things you can give to your dad are ones that money can't buy.  Every year my dad tells us not to buy him anything, all he wants is a hug! Just letting your dad know that you love him and are thinking of him will make his day. However, if you're like me and my family, you still want to give him something to show your love. In that case, something personal will mean more to him than anything else. Think about what he likes to do in his free time and then get him something along those lines or even better, do it with him! If he likes golf, you could get him some golf clubs and then go with him sometime. If he likes a certain sport such as basketball, you could get tickets for the both of you so you can cheer on his favorite team next season! My dad's favorite hobbies are aviation and astronomy. In the past, we have gotten him accessories for his telescope and even a ride in a biplane!

He also likes to hike outdoors, so this year we are going on a hike as a family after we go out to breakfast. Whatever you do this year, make sure your dad feels special. I know mine has sacrificed a lot for me to be where I am today, and I could not be more thankful or ask for a better father! Let me know what you have done in the past for Father's Day and also what you're doing this year!

Road Trip Essentials

First, I want to say that I'm SO sorry for my absence. I'm headed into my last week of school, and that means finals, so I have really been focusing on my classes - but I'm almost done! On Thursday my parents are coming to pick me up and just like that, I will have finished my freshman year of college!
Going to school in Northern California has been amazing, but it means that going home to San Diego is a little bit more complicated. For winter and spring break, I flew home, but this time around I have a lot of stuff to bring back so... you guessed it - an 8.5 hour drive back home it is!

I did this drive to visit my school last year, and then last summer we drove to move all of my stuff up here. Although it isn't too bad, it still feels like a long travel day. I have put together some of my road trip essentials, outfits, and ideas to make the time go by faster. Let me know what you take on road trips or where you might be traveling to! Also, leave me some book recommendations - I need a new one to read for summer!

1. Headphones - These are a must for me! I love listening to music, and my parents and I don't have the same taste. This way, we are all happy! Plus, I think investing in some nice headphones are worth it, and these are super cute in my opinion!

2. Comfy Outfit - I have to wear something comfortable when I am in the car. This outfit is perfect and will keep you cool in the summer heat! (similar top)

3. Big Bag - I actually just purchased this bag from Nordstrom and it is the best thing ever! It holds so much stuff and is reversible too (brown on the inside)! You need to get this!

4. iPad - The iPad is my best friend on road trips because I can do everything on it! I can play games, read books, listen to music, write notes, and goof off on Photo Booth!

5. Sunglasses - These are an obvious one! You don't want to be squinting while driving! I really like these by Crush. They look like Ray Bans but are much more affordable! I don't like buying expensive sunglasses because I always end up losing them or breaking them after a few months.

6. Snacks - I love snacks - they are one of my favorite parts about road trips! KIND bars are especially good - the best flavor in my opinion are the dark chocolate cherry cashew ones.

7. Books - This can be a hit or miss for me. If the road is straight, then I can read fine in the car. But when it gets windy, you might want to roll down the windows and get some fresh air while you put the book down for a while. Perks Of Being A Wallflower is one of my all time favorite books and the movie is great as well!
