April Favorites

I can't believe that it's the last day of April - where is 2014 going?! It was a great month - I celebrated Easter, my mom and grandma came up to visit me, and I turned 19! As sad as I am that the month is over, there are a lot of exciting things coming up in May. Even though April went fast, there were a lot of great products and items that I loved and used throughout the whole month. Let me know what your favorite things in April were!

1. J Crew 3" Chino shorts: I own 2 pairs and I want more! The colors are so cute and the shorts themselves are extremely flattering and comfortable. A definite must for spring and summer!
2. Pearl earrings: I have worn my Forever 21 pearl earrings almost everyday this month. They go with everything and I feel more put together when I am wearing them.
3. Starburst Jellybeans: Warning - these are addicting! My friends gave them to me for my birthday and they are so good! I have been eating them while studying and doing homework; they make it a little better.
4. NYX HD Concealer: This stuff works great for the price! I know there are better concealers out there, but this one is so cheap and does the job. It blends nicely and provides good coverage. I highly recommend it!
5. NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brûlée: Again, another NYX product! But this color is gorgeous and leaves lips feeling soft and moisturized. It's a good layering lip gloss to put over a lip stain or lipstick. Or you can use it by itself like I do.
6. Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift Perfume: This scent has been out for a few years now, but I never get tired of it. Maybe I also like it because I got to try it when I MET her at her concert three years ago.

Other favorites:
1. Favorite song: I can't choose between 'She Get Me High" by Luke Bryan and 'Automatic' by Miranda Lambert - they have both been on repeat equally!
2. Favorite TV Show: "Chrisley Knows Best" is my guilty pleasure. I've been watching it on my laptop before I go to bed and my roommate thinks I'm crazy when I actually laugh out loud.

Lazy Sunday Outfit

Sundays are my favorite days for a few reasons. First, I like to use them to catch up on my schoolwork and get ahead for the rest of the week. Second, I get to wear comfy, cozy clothes all day. I also let myself sleep in as late as I want.
As it is Sunday today, I thought I would give you some ideas of what you can wear on the best day of the week. I like to wear sweaters with leggings. Recently, my friend brought it to my attention that Lululemon has come out with leggings that have a cottony material that are unbelievably comfortable. These outfits would go great with some cute stud earrings and any of the Keds from my last post! Let me know what you like to do and wear on Sundays!

With spring in full swing and summer around the corner, I have been spending more time outside! While I love sandals, sometimes I want to switch it up and wear something different. I have had my eyes on Keds lately because they have come up with so many cute prints and colors. Plus Taylor Swift and Kate Spade both have designs out now for Keds! These are some of my favorites - they would be perfect with denim shorts and a bright top or a cute dress!

Birthday Fun

So I turned 19 today! That sounds old to me ( I know it's not). This was my first birthday away from home, but it was one of the best yet. I don't think I've ever felt so much love on one day before. My best friends decorated my room and baked brownies and cupcakes with Oreos from scratch! I was able to FaceTime with my family and my brother sent me the cutest card. My friends gave me the sweetest notes and I got so many birthday texts and wishes on Facebook. Overall, it was a wonderful day.
It's funny how when you get older, it's less about the gifts you receive and more about the thought and time that was put into them. I am so lucky to have the friends and family that I do - I don't know what I did to deserve them. I am so genuinely happy and excited for the future. So here's to 19 being the best year yet!
Also, I know my past two posts have been a lot of writing about me - there will be more fashion posts coming soon!

College Advice

I've been thinking and working on this post for awhile because I didn't know how I wanted to break it up, but I've decided to do an advice post and then another one later on what I have learned so far from freshman year. If I leave anything out or you have any other questions, leave them in the comments and I'll be happy to answer them!

1) Do something that scares you or that you think you wouldn't like. When I came to college, I was not planning on being in a sorority because I couldn't see myself in one. But I can say hands down it was one of the best decisions. Some of my favorite memories are from sisterhood events and formals/semi-formals. If greek life isn't for you, join a club that interests you or go to events on campus. It is a great way to meet people!

2) Study! This seems so obvious, but time slips away easily in college. I like to make a routine each quarter and set certain times for homework. This will make you less stressed overall and it will definitely boost your GPA!! Remember, the biggest priority in college should be school!

3) Go to the gym and make healthy eating choices! It is so easy to skip the gym and eat junk food instead of vegetables. But remember, your new independence also means new responsibilities, including being responsible for yourself and your health. You will feel and look better if you take care of yourself; don't let college be an excuse to let yourself go.

4) Don't miss out on opportunities! They are everywhere if you look for them. You can make so many new friends and connections at college and it is a great place to start the rest of your life. College is an experience - you don't want to miss out!

5) Keep in touch with your high school friends, but don't live in the past. Unfortunately, almost everyone goes off to different schools and starts a new phase of their life, but that doesn't mean you can't stay friends. Just don't let those relationships significantly affect the new ones you will make in college.

Like I said, these are just my tips based on my experiences (and I am just a freshman). I will be dong another post about what I've learned and gained personally from college, but I wanted to post these tips as well!

Tea Time

Drinking tea is one of my favorite ways to start and end my day. Hot tea in the winter and iced tea in the summer, it seems the seasons would be lacking something if tea was not a part of it. Tea has many health benefits, and I even prefer it over coffee (sometimes). This is the first year I won't be getting dressed up for the National Charity League Mother Daughter Tea, but if I were going, this is what I would wear. These are also my 2 all time favorite teas I thought I would share with you. I think this would be a fun activity/gift for Mother's Day, which is coming up on May 11! Let me know if you have any recommendations for teas - I would love to try them!

Easter Outfit

I can't believe Easter is this Sunday! My mom and grandma are coming up to visit me at college. I think we'll go to church and brunch - I can't wait! I love dressing up, especially for Easter. The pastels are so pretty and the white shoes and accessories make the looks seem polished and put together.  If you don't celebrate Easter, you could wear these to any nice event in the spring and summer. Let me know which is your favorite or what you are wearing this Sunday!

Navy and White Dresses

Navy and white is by far my FAVORITE color combination. It works for any season and always looks classy, timeless, and nautical. Since dresses are pretty much the only thing I like to wear in the summertime, I picked 6 of my favorites, all of which are under $100! These would all look great with nude wedges or flats and a red bag or statement piece of jewelry.

Honesty is the Best Policy

I've been hesitant to do a post about this because I want this blog to be a happy and positive place, where not only I, but you as well, can go to as a creative outlet. However, I also want to be completely honest and real with you.
Freshman year of college has changed my life. Although I don't feel I am a new person, I know that I have developed greatly and really found who I am, or at least a little more than when I came here last September. I have experienced highs and lows, both of which I am grateful for. It has been everything I expected and more, but that doesn't mean it's been perfect. I have had to have some confrontations that I didn't want to have, some roommate issues, and of course the work load of a bio major seems unfair (when you're not even sure that's what you want to do)! Sometimes I wonder if I'm at the right place and making the right decisions. It's scary to have those thoughts because it makes you second guess yourself, something I have never done before. The beginning of a new quarter always stresses me out - I have never loved change. But it is getting better and I just keep reminding myself to take things one day at a time.
I'm so grateful to have the friends and family that I do. It makes all the difference. I know that I have their support in whatever choices I make. Thank you all for being there for me as well, whether you realize it or not. When you leave comments or suggest a product for me to try, it makes my day! I love blogging and it has quickly become my favorite hobby.
If any of you are ever feeling the same way, I am here for you and want to help! On another note, I'm thinking about doing a "College Advice" post soon! If there is anything you want to know, tell me in the comments!

Sorority Formal/Prom Looks

It's prom and sorority formal season, which means long dresses - my favorite! I love events like these where you get to dress up and feel like a princess for a night. I've put together some looks that I absolutely love - there are some very cute dresses out there right now! If you have graduated college already, I'm sure you could find some excuse to wear an outfit like this. Let me know which one is your favorite in the comments!

My Go To Hair Products

I have very curly, frizzy, thick, unruly hair that is sometimes a blessing, sometimes a curse. Over the years, I've tried all the products out there, and these are the ones that have stood the test of time. This is not sponsored at all, I just really love these products and wanted to share them with you! Let me know what you like to use on your hair in the comments below!

1. This heat tamer spray works for everything from flat irons, to blow dryers, to curling irons.
2. This shampoo adds much needed moisture to my hair.
3. The conditioner leaves my hair feeling smooth and soft - plus I love the smell!
4. I use this deep conditioning mask on my hair about once a week, and I feel it's a good dupe for the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque (which is very expensive).
5. The GHD flat irons are expensive but SO WORTH THE MONEY! My hair becomes so smooth with this flat iron, and it's the best one I have ever owned.
6. I'm pretty sure Moroccan Oil is magic in a bottle. It leaves my hair incredibly soft and smells delicious.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

America's favorite past time pumps through her veins in the spring time. Trips to the ballpark, the smell of hot dogs, and 7th inning stretches fill the air of summer nights. Whether you love to root for your favorite team, or just enjoy spending time with friends and family at the stadium, baseball is an essential part of the spring and summer and it's hard to picture America without it.
Although I am not a die hard fan of baseball, I do love watching the game for a few innings. Recently, I have been liking the song "Ball Cap" by Glen Templeton (which may have inspired this post). I also love baseball style tees and ball caps - they are some of my go-tos all year round. Let me know which ones you like in the comments as well as your favorite team!

Rainy Day Outfit

It has been raining here in Northern California a lot! Walking across campus isn't fun, but I do love being in my dorm room all snuggled up. Here is a cute outfit similar to the ones I've been wearing the past few days. Let me know in the comments what your favorite part about rainy weather is and what you like to wear!

1. The umbrella from Lilly Pulitzer is absolutely adorable!
2. This raincoat from The North Face will keep you dry and the color is gorgeous.
3. These jeans from Old Navy are affordable and so cute.
4. These rain boots are from Target. The whales remind me of Vineyard Vines!
